Today I wrote an article on heirloom gifts and the meaning behind things that are “passed down.” It’s a lovely idea … having items that you wish to share with future generations. In fact, it made me think of what I would consider a passable heirloom. Next to my wedding bands, I would have to say my handbags (like these beauties from Free People.) I am, after all, a handbag kind of girl.

I’m happy to share my new fall fashion feature for Hour Detroit. Isn’t it lovely + dramatic? This was an intense, two-day shoot which took place at one of the most beautiful homes on the Cranbrook campus, the Booth House or Cranbrook House and Gardens. Vast gardens, gorgeous original furnishings + the most sublime details, it was truly a magical place. Of course our story of intrigue was all the more moody and sultry set against these backdrops, no? To check out the rest of the shoot, head here.

Musical Mondays get’s sweet today with The Archies ‘Sugar, Sugar.’ When I was in college my friend and I ventured off to NYC for a semester “away.” During our time in Manhattan we shared a one-room hovel on 14th + 6th (our only consolation was running into Ethan Hawke occasionally at Kate’s Paperie) where, due to the narrowness of our room, our twin beds had to be positioned foot-to-foot.
Of course being young, independent and entirely wild, we turned our miserly lodgings into a rollicking fun place, drinking red wine out of bottles while blasting our tunes. One of our favorites was this song from The Archies. Here, I’ve collected a bevvy of divine food images from some of my favorite bloggers to “reflect” the song’s literal meaning. Delish.

Today’s our last day in Maine. It’s been such a lovely trip; my mom and I bonding, eating, relaxing, reminiscing, investigating and laughing. And it’s also given me ample time to devote to all my various ideas and pursuits (including Sage & Style.) I feel rejuvenated, motivated, relaxed, excited. I also feel full as I’m literally filled to the brim with seafood, taffy + red wine. With that said, I’m now gearing up to leave, which puts me back in travel mode. Today’s post sums up what I wish I was wearing tomorrow as we fly away home.

Like most people, BCL and I have an enormous pile of magazines which we just can’t seem to get rid of. You know, issues that have destination guides, cool fashion/decor spreads, new restaurants and the like. So considering this, I started a quest to find the most fantastic storage piece to house said favorites, hoping to file away the rest in our guest room closet. And to my amazement, after a few hours of searching I stumbled upon AM Radio’s Etsy shop. After squealing with delight over this bamboo beauty, I kept browsing, all thoughts forgotten as I drooled over everything from old truck mirrors to a vintage hat + boot brush. I am easily sidetracked and utterly pleased.

|| dreaming of || luscious layering

Being that the past two “summer” trips that I’ve been on were to A) unusually chilly San Francisco and B) rainy, cold Maine, it seems appropriate that I feature two of my favorite fall coats in lieu of summer dresses. Afterall, as of right now (fighting through a Nor’easter in Kennbunkport and shivering through my first ice cream) I certainly wish I had one. Although a bit pricey, Loeffler Randall’s draped pocket coat is the absolute perfect, wearable neutral. Trust me. The 3/4″ sleeves cry for long, leather gloves, while the sweet, feminine shape and draped hip pockets accentuate all of the positives.

This week my mom and I left on a well-deserved mother/daughter trip to Kennbunkport, ME. Have any of you been? She grew up going to York beach and Ogunquit, so we figured it was high time we did a return visit. You may have noticed that my tweets reflect our constant eating, something I definitely researched before we left. What can I say, when I travel I eat! In fact, here’s a peek at the most delectable fried clam roll, ever. All hail the Clam Shack. Tomorrow, it’s lobster.
