what a day

Today has been truly liberating in so many ways. First off, I cleaned my entire office in preparation for our big “renovation” which starts next week. You’ll likely become quite familiar with the “re-do” as I intend to photograph before and after shots of the room. While these surface changes have been constantly on my mind, they always seemed to fall to the bottom of my list. You all know how that is, right? So, when a few weeks ago I got a call from an editor friend who’d pitched our house for a regional magazine, I leaped at the chance to move forward.
Of course the afternoon wouldn’t have be complete without a few important finds. Under a massive stack of old Martha Stewart Weddings was one of my London journals. What an eye-opening hour of reading! Though I admit I was tempted to toss it after cringing over some of the most ridiculous, angsty passages (all to do with an ex boyfriend) it made me wonder if that would be like erasing a part of my past. So I’ve decided to keep it. In fact, I’m posting on one of my entries just for the fun of it. See below. I’m serious; I really did copy an excerpt from a book entitled, “Calling Romeo.”
Me circa 2002: I was reading a book today named Calling Romeo and was struck by a passage. The couple had broken up but was still in love. During this particular excerpt someone was giving the guy advice and I found it quite moving. The passage: Go on, tell her you love her. I’ve seen you these past months William, and you’re been a right miserable guy. Go on, swallow your pride. You’ve only got one life, lad, and it goes faster than you can imagine. If you love someone; whatever has happened, you can always work it out. Kind of lovely in a British romantic comedy sort of way, no?

Kinda nice to stumble upon the past…those London days I will always cherish!

  2. That’s lovely. It’s always nice uncovering old things. I love a rummage through love letters and photo albums!
